A demonstration called for by the Resistance Committees in the Khartoum State according to the time table organized by the committees, to call for the civil rule kicked off today in the three cities of the state.
The demonstrators chanted slogans and raising banners demanding the handing of power to the people.
The protests come amid an official invitation by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and the UNITAMS Head, Volker Perthes for carrying out consultations with all the Sudanese and international partners to hold a UN-facilitated dialogue on Sudan.
The consultations aim at supporting the Sudanese stakeholders to reach an agreement to end the current political crisis in the country and agreeing on a sustainable path of progress towards democracy and peace.
number of political leaders in the country welcomed the invitation along with the US State Department, the Arab League and a number of Arab countries, while a number of political forces had reservations on these consultations.
